Voilà une chanson comme je les aime, ça s'appelle Qattoura - قطورة qu'on peut traduire par "Gouttelette", c'est l'histoire d'une petite gouttelette d'eau qui se réveille au rayons de soleil, et avec sa chaleur (le soleil), elle s'évapore, et prend son cycle naturel, comme pluies & co.., c'est une gouttelette sociale, avec beaucoup d'amies, elle est joyeuse, et aime jouer comme tout le monde :) (Rasha Rizk est la chanteuse).

Je viens de découvrir avant hier soir la chanson Earth Song de Michael Jackson sur MTV Arabia, puisqu'elle diffusait une palylist gonflé par les chansons de Bambi pour lui rendre hommage pendant 3 jours ( ou plus ) ! j'ai bien aimé le clip vidéo qui  montre le coté humanitaire d'MJ et qui colle à la chanson. il retrace l'histoire de la nature, et les effets de pollutions sur elle !!  On peut de nombreuses choses cruelles sur les animaux ( pour que la PETA intervienne ) c'est tout simplement énorme !

"Earth Song" le 3^e single extrait de l'album HIstory sort en novembre 1995. Aux États-Unis, le single est diffusé en radio uniquement.Le titre est diffusé simultanément avec la chanson "This Time Around"sur les radios américaines. En Angleterre, "Earth Song" démarre en numéro un et y reste 6 semaines. Ce faisant, le single devient la chanson numéro de Noël dans ce pays. "Earth Song" restera 19 semaines dans les charts, et sera le plus gros hit anglais de Michael Jackson.

Le single sera numéro 1 en Allemagne, Suisse, Lettonie et l'Eurochart. Au total, il atteint le top 10 dans 16 pays européens. Aux Brit Awards de 1996, la chanson cause à nouveau une controverse. Définition

Le Theremin, thérémine, theremine, theremin ou thereminvox est un des plus anciens instruments de musique électronique, inventé en 1919 par le russe Lev Sergeïevitch Termen (connu sous le nom de Léon Theremin). Composé d’un boîtier électronique équipé de deux antennes, le thérémine a la particularité de produire de la musique sans aucun contact physique de l’instrumentiste. Dans sa version la plus répandue, on contrôle la hauteur de la note de la main droite, en faisant varier sa distance par rapport à l’antenne verticale. L’antenne horizontale, en forme de boucle, est utilisée pour faire varier le volume selon sa distance par rapport à la main gauche.

Principe 

Le signal audio est généré par un oscillateur hétérodyne à tubes électroniques. Deux signaux de fréquences élevées (l’un fixe à 170 kHz, l’autre variable entre 168 et 170 kHz) se combinent pour former un battement et fournir un signal audible, entre 20 et 20000 Hz. L’effet de capacitance apporté par le corps de l’instrumentiste, à proximité des antennes, affecte la fréquence produite, tout comme une personne se déplaçant dans une pièce peut altérer la qualité d’une réception de radio ou de télévision. Cette caractéristique est mise à profit dans le thérémine, et la combinaison des deux mains, l’une contrôlant le volume et l’autre la hauteur de la note, permet d’obtenir des effets sonores insolites. Le thérémine, disposant d’un seul oscillateur, est un instrument monophonique. Son timbre, que l’on ne peut modifier, s’apparente de loin à celui de la voix humaine ou à celui de la scie musicale.

Pandora the free online- radio service that generates playlists based on users’ musical preferences reported that it believes it will be profitable next year for the first time since the company started in 2000 .

If this turns out to be true than Pandora will could be the first pure Internet music site to make some dough.  Certainly iTunes is profitable - but that business has succeeded because of the iPod and iTouch as much as the Internet. But let’s focus on Pandora and the potential for a trifecta:

1. Pure Internet music site - not associated with a music studio or other offline music business
2. Profitable
3. 100% compliance with all music copyright rules and regulations

So how is this miracle occurring?

Pandora is an ad supported service and the registered user count has risen to 27 million registered users with an additional   50,000 to 60,000 members signing up each day!  The mobile world has been very very good to Pandora!   Their mobile applications have been home runs. Signups have been climbing since they released an iPhone app 10 months ago and one for the BlackBerry last month. The iPhone application has more than 5 million users and brings in 18,000 to 20,000 new ones daily!

Although the advertising market is very tight - even Google has seen an downturn - Pandora can deliver targeted ads thus making sure commercials aren’t wasted on the wrong demographic group. “We’re not delivering an ad for a women’s clothing store to men, or a bar or alcohol-related event to minors,” CEO Tim Westergren said. “Everything is delivered based on the information of the listener.”

Will more folks pay for higher quality?

Pandora has just rolled out Pandora One, a subscription-based upgrad which is a service upgrade from the standard free Pandora experience.  The big question - will hardcore users shell out $36/year for some extra features?  Compared to other subscription services, Pandora has identified some cool upgrades:

• High quality streaming - 192K bits per second audio. That’s the highest quality streaming experience on the Internet. More bits mean better sounding music.

• Extended interaction timeout - Listen for up to 5 hours in a row without Pandora stopping and asking “Are you still listening?”

• Pandora desktop application - You can play your Pandora stations right from your desktop - without opening a new browser window. Available for the Mac & Windows.
• Ad free experience

Pandora has had a subscription service for awhile at he same price, but it included very few incentives, other than an ad-free experience, that were worth paying for.

Smooth sailing?
Pandora’s primary barrier to reaching profitability rests in the outcome of  a dispute over how much Internet radio providers should pay in music royalties. Pandora has paid all royalties - never ripping off any musician or studio. Pandora is in negotiations with recording companies, artists and copyright holders and those results could be considered the final hurdle for Pandora.

If they reach agreement with the music industry on affordable rates - they roll to victory.  Without agreement - they may well join Napster, Seeqpod and the whole universe of Internet music sites that are now hosted on the Internet in the sky.

What’s the hope?

Pandora has played by all the music industry rules - no theft of digital assets here.  If the recording industry is smart they will reach and agreement with Pandora and set the stage for digital music in the next century.  But, the recording industry can be stubburn - let’s hope they wise up!

Le festival 8 bits enflamme New York

 

 

Le temps d'un long week-end, New York a célébré la technologie archaïque du 8 bits, lors du Blip Festival. Performances vidéos ou show musical issus de vieilles GameBoy ou de Casio sortis du vide grenier ont mis le feu à un public totalement dévoué à la gloire de la low tech. On ne sort décidément pas du revival 80's.

La musique en ligne ne connait pas la crise

 

La musique en ligne détient déjà 18% de part de marché aux Etats-Unis, un chiffre qui pourrait atteindre les 41% en 2013 selon le groupe Forrester Research. De quoi réjouir Apple qui détient la majorité du marché sans toutefois dévoiler ses résultats financiers.
